Terms of use

Educational information, provided as is, by a small company that does not give legal advice.

These terms govern your use of Policing.uk, operated by HCEO LTD (company number 13112735), registered at Seven Grange Lane, Pitsford, Northampton. By using the site you agree to them.

What the site is

Policing.uk is an educational reference about policing law in England and Wales. HCEO LTD is a publisher. It does not provide legal advice, legal representation, policing services or enforcement services.

Not legal advice

Nothing on this site is legal advice. The information is for education and reference. Seek independent advice from a solicitor before acting on anything you read here.

Accuracy

The site is provided as is and as available, without warranty of any kind. Summaries of legislation and the PACE Codes are simplified. They may not reflect the most recent amendment. Each page shows a last updated date and, where a person has checked it against the source, a reviewed date. Always consult the original statute or Code; legislation pages link legislation.gov.uk and sourced pages list the documents they were checked against.

Liability

To the fullest extent the law allows, HCEO LTD is not liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential or punitive loss, or for loss of profit or revenue, arising from use of the site. The site is free, and our total liability for any claim is limited to one hundred pounds.

Acceptable use

You must not use the site to plan or carry out unlawful activity, to impersonate police or other officials, or to scrape its content for commercial redistribution.

Copyright

Original text, design and code are the property of HCEO LTD. Legislation and the Codes of Practice are Crown copyright, reproduced under the Open Government Licence v3.0. Material from the College of Policing, SFJ Awards and Skills England is summarised with a citation to the original.

Changes and law

These terms may change. Continued use after a change is acceptance of the new terms. If any provision is unenforceable the rest stands. The terms are governed by the law of England and Wales and any dispute is for the courts of England and Wales.
