Police and Criminal Evidence Act 1984 (Codes of Practice) Order 2023

The statutory instrument that brings into force the revised PACE Codes of Practice (Codes A to H). The Codes are periodically revised to reflect changes in law, technology, and operational practice. The 2023 order brought in updates to reflect advances in digital evidence, the use of live facial recognition technology, and changes to the rules on pre-charge bail.
