Mental Capacity Act 2005

Provides the legal framework for acting and making decisions on behalf of adults who lack mental capacity. Establishes the principles of capacity assessment, best interests, and the Court of Protection. Creates the offence of ill-treatment or neglect of a person lacking capacity.
