Computer Misuse Act 1990

The principal statute making it a criminal offence to access computer material without authorisation, to access computer material with intent to commit further offences, and to modify computer material without authorisation. It has been amended by the Police and Justice Act 2006 and the Serious Crime Act 2015 to address the growing threat of cybercrime, with increased maximum penalties.
