Civil Nuclear Constabulary

The Civil Nuclear Constabulary is an armed police force responsible for the protection of nuclear sites and the safe transportation of nuclear material across the UK. Officers are trained to an exceptionally high standard in armed response given the critical national infrastructure they protect. The CNC works closely with the Office for Nuclear Regulation, the Nuclear Decommissioning Authority, and the wider national security community.

Area Covered

The Civil Nuclear Constabulary protects civil nuclear sites and nuclear material across the United Kingdom. This includes operational nuclear power stations, decommissioning sites managed by the Nuclear Decommissioning Authority, and nuclear material in transit.
